The programme includes 2 x 90 minutes sessions on optimizing students’ learning and effectively planning for the learning process using games and storytelling techniques.

All the participants will be issued certificates of attendance and free special packs from Macmillan, including samples of the well-known FOOTPRINTS coursebooks and the new TIGER TIME series!

WORKSHOPS:

           09:00 – 10:30 Using games and activities to optimise students’ learning & manage the learning process

In this session we will look at optimising students’ learning and managing the learning process in a child-friendly way: teaching through play by using age appropriate games and activities. The focus of this session will be on how we can use games and activities to manage students’ learning and enhance engagement in the process. Key elements essential

to support the learning process will be revisited such as

the use of visuals, TPR and multiple intelligences.

  10:45 – 12:15 The power of storytelling in the classroom

Telling stories is an exciting and entertaining way to engage

learners and present new language structures and vocabulary. It’s key that younger learners are provided with meaningful contexts for language and storytelling provides this. Narrative activities help students to communicate in the target language in more authentic way and develop learners’ critical thinking, listening and speaking skills. In this session we will look at how we teachers can improve their story telling skills as well as some effective storytelling activities.

Anna Hasper has been working in the ELT industry for over 13 years and has worked on various projects for the British Council, Ministries of Education, private schools, education providers in primary, secondary and vocational contexts. She currently writes and trains teachers for publishers and delivers a variety of Cambridge accredited teacher training courses (TKT, CELTA, YL Ex & Delta Module3) around the world. She also writes and delivers bespoke teacher-training and professional development units on request. She’s passionate about working with young and very young learners (ages 3 to 13) and is involved in online tutoring of primary and secondary school teachers for the British Council.
